Book an open house
When an open house is planned, you pick the day and time on the listing. Your place is final once we have confirmed it.
Lease and move-in
The lease, move-in and inspection are handled by us. There is one place to ask, and the answer comes from someone who has been in the flat.
What does it cost to move in?
When you move in you usually pay a deposit, prepaid rent and the first month’s rent. Under Danish rental law, the deposit and the prepaid rent can each be at most three months’ rent.
Every listing shows these amounts separately and added up, so you know the full move-in cost before booking a viewing. Utilities on account for heating, water and electricity are listed separately because they are settled afterwards.

Every listing states whether the home is furnished, partly furnished or unfurnished, and you can filter on it above. If a lease is fixed-term, the end date is shown in the details on the listing.
Homes by district
The district on each listing is looked up from the postcode rather than chosen by hand, so a home in 1653 is listed under Vesterbro even though it is close to the city centre.

How do I book a viewing of an apartment?
When an open house is planned, it is shown on the listing. You choose the day and time, enter your name, email and phone, and get a receipt by email. Your place is final once we have confirmed it, which we usually do within a day. If no open house is planned, write to udlejning@byadministration.dk.
What does it cost to move into a rental in Copenhagen?
You pay a deposit, prepaid rent and the first month’s rent including utilities on account. Under Danish rental law the deposit and the prepaid rent can each be at most three months’ rent. Are the apartments furnished?
It depends on the home. Each listing says whether it is furnished, partly furnished or unfurnished, and you can filter on it in the overview. If the lease is fixed-term, you will find the end date in the details on the listing.
What do reserved and rented out mean?
Reserved means we have an agreement with someone interested, but the home can become available again if it falls through. Rented out means the home has been rented out. It stays on the site for a while so you can see what a similar home costs, but it cannot be rented or booked for a viewing.
Is there a waiting list for your homes?
We run a list rather than a waiting list. When you sign up, you hear about the homes that match your criteria: free in a morning summary, or instantly with BY Direkte. Everyone on the list gets the same homes, and viewings open at the same time for all.
Can I rent out my own home through you?
