Resident permit or private parking space?
Compare the municipal permit with a private space. The prices are shown with date and source.
Copenhagen, 2026
Resident permit
Costs from DKK 1,235 a year for electric and hydrogen cars to DKK 6,135 for cars with the highest consumption. The permit lets you park in the zone, not a space of your own. See the full table on kk.dk (in Danish).
Frederiksberg, read 1 Oct 2026
Resident and commuter permit
The resident permit costs from DKK 50 a year for an electric car to DKK 805 for energy classes C to G, and the commuter permit DKK 645 a month according to frederiksberg.dk (in Danish).
Private space
A space of your own
You rent a specific space from the owner under a written agreement. In new urban areas, private parking cost DKK 7,944 to 17,556 a year in 2023 according to the city’s reply to the City Council (in Danish).

What is the difference between a resident permit and a private parking space?
A resident permit lets you park on the street in your zone, but gives you no particular space. A private space is rented from the owner under a written agreement, and it is yours for as long as the agreement runs.
What does it cost to rent a space through BY?
Only the rent. You pay no fees. You pay the rent to us, and we pay it out to the owner.
How do I join the waiting list, and how do I leave it?
Fill in the form and click the button in the email you receive afterwards. The email also has a link that takes you off the list in one click, and then we delete your sign-up.
Can a company rent a space?
Yes, when the owner agrees. Choose “Company” in the form, and we will contact you about the spaces where the owner has said yes to a company.
Which areas do you cover?
Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. Østerbro with Nordhavn, Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Indre By and Frederiksberg have their own pages, and for anywhere else you choose “Elsewhere” with the postcode.
Can I get a space with a charger?
Only if the owner of the space has one. Answer yes to electric car in the form, and we will contact you about spaces with a charger.
